The original bakery

Piecat

Made of: A cherry lattice pie. The widest smile in the bakery.

Piecat is a cartoon cat made out of a cherry lattice pie: a round golden pie with a crimped crust edge, a woven pastry lattice on top and glossy red cherries peeping through the gaps. The face sits right on the lattice, wearing the widest smile in the whole bakery.

Sweet, warm-hearted and a total crowd-pleaser, Piecat is the cat everyone saves a slice of the sofa for. Bad day? Piecat will sit beside you until it isn't. Good day? Piecat will be twice as pleased about it as you are. There is a soft spot for cherries, and an even softer spot for chin scratches.

Favourite spot: the cooling rack by the back door, where the breeze drifts in and the pies are left to rest. Piecat insists on helping them cool, which mostly means sitting very close and beaming at them.

Quirks: hums while waiting for the oven timer, counts the lattice strips on other pies to check they have been done properly, and is hopeless at keeping surprises, because that grin always gives the game away. Piecat is the friend in every group who remembers your birthday.
